Coach Kobza is entering her second year as the Head Coach of the Lady Indians. Even though her first season didn’t go as planned she still coached a successful group of girls. Her first recruit Aijahnae Springs of Texas was awarded All Regional Team, All-Tournament Team, and the D1 Nebraska World Herald’s Team. Aijahnae Springs accepted a position at Chadron State College. Kobza also coached setter, Dylann Bylund who made the Region 9 All-Tournament Team. Coach Kobza is a native of Hershey, NE and now resides in Maywood with her husband Clay.

Coach Jon Olsen is entering his eighth season as head baseball coach at McCook Community College.  Olsen enters his fourteenth year overall as a junior college head coach., Olsen was the first head coach in MCC history in 2002 then had a five year stint at Independence Community College in Independence KS before returning in the summer of 2007 to take over the Indian program again.
Coach Olsen, a McCook native graduated from McCook Senior high school in 1995, following graduation he played two years of junior college baseball in Kansas.  After graduating with his A.A. from Colby Olsen transferred to Wheaton College in Wheaton IL, where he completed his baseball eligibility and graduated in the fall of 1999 with a B.S. in Kinesiology.  Olsen stayed on in the spring of 2000 as an assistant coach at Wheaton, then in 2000-2001 Coach Olsen went back to Colby and spent one year as an assistant there.   Olsen also spent six seasons as the head coach in the McCook American Legion Baseball program in the summers from 1997 to 2002.  Olsen completed his Masters degree in Health PE and Recreation from Emporia State University.
Coach Olsen was hired in the spring of 2001 to start the baseball program at McCook Community College.   After one season as the Indians head coach, Olsen was hired to take over the head coaching position at Independence Community College in Independence KS.  At Independence Olsen built the Pirates into a program that consistently competed for a top spot in the highly competitive Jayhawk East.  In his first season as Pirates head coach Olsen lead the Pirates to their first winning season in school history and was named the 2003 Jayhawk East coach of the year.   Olsen’s final two recruiting classes in Kansas produced three Major League Baseball draft picks, in 2007 Josh Beal was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds, in 2008 Jon Nagel to the Chicago Cubs, and in 2009 Justin Beal went to the Philadelphia Phillies. 
In July of 2007 Coach Olsen happily accepted the head coaching position at McCook Community College. In 2010 Olsen guided the Indians to their best season in school history, which included setting the school record for wins, and the Indians first trip to the Region playoff under the new format. Olsen is excited for his eighth year at MCC, and hopes the Indians can make a push towards McCook’s first region IX title. Olsen has been very pleased with the 2015 team on and off the field, “this years group has had great work ethic at practice, in the weight room and in the classroom” We had an excellent team GPA this past fall, and placed 8 players on the MPCC Dean and President List.” Olsen also is a full time Health and PE instructor and athletic director at MCC.  Olsen and his wife Nicole reside in McCook.

Coach Tyler Loop is in his 5th year as head golf coach at MCC, and has high hopes for this year’s team to make it to Nationals in Lubbock, TX. With 3 returning Sophomores and 5 talented Freshmen, he feels the team can be very competitive. Coach Loop has learned a lot about coaching over the years, but says most of his coaching techniques come from his high school coach, Ron Coleman, who was named the 2003 Nebraska High School Golf Coach of the Year. Coach Loop is a native of McCook, and with his wife, Tyler Sue, have three children, Kapri, Keaton, and Amity.

Brandon Pritchett begins his first season as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach for McCook Community College in 2019. Coach Pritchett spent the last nine seasons, from 2010-2019, as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach for MCC. During that time, he helped produce 28 All-NCCAC Players, 9 All-Region IX Players, & 2 All-Region Tournament Players. He also coached three NJCAA National Player of the Week Honorees and a Conference Player of the Year. Coach Pritchett has coached 8 Academic All-Americans and 23 Academic All-Conference Players, while being instrumental in the MCC Men’s Basketball team receiving the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award two out of the last three years.

Prior to his time at McCook CC, Coach Pritchett began his coaching career at Flagstaff High School in Flagstaff, AZ. During his six seasons as the Assistant Varsity Boy’s Coach, he helped guide the Eagles to two Region Titles, two Region Tournament Championships, three City Championships, a 4A State Quarterfinal finish, and a 4A State Final Four finish. He helped nine players move on to play at the collegiate level while at Flagstaff H.S.

Jacob Brandl Head Coach: Jacob Brandl returns to his Nebraska roots as Head Coach for McCook Community College men’s basketball program in 2020-2021. He spent the past eight years at Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota.

While attending North Platte St. Pat’s High School in 2006, he was named the North Platte Telegraph Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year. He went on to play at North Platte Community College in 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.

“As a North Platte native and former Mid-Plains student athlete, having an opportunity to come back to Nebraska and be close to home is very exciting for me,” said Brandl.

After receiving his Associate of Arts Degree in 2008, he went to Dana College in Blair and later attended Midland University in Fremont, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history and secondary education, as well as a field endorsement in social science and coaching. 

As a college player at North Platte and Dana, he scored 966 career points, including 221 career 3-point field goals. He started 30 straight games for the Knights and then 59 straight for Dana College.

After attending Dana College, he went to Dakota Wesleyan from 2012-2014 where he received his Master’s Degree in Education Policy and Administration.

For the past eight years, Brandl has been part of the DWU basketball program serving as the program’s associate head coach in 2019-2020.  At Dakota Wesleyan, he was responsible for all players’ eligibility with the NAIA clearinghouse, responsible for all recruit correspondence and databases, and recruited players from all areas including 77 student athletes over the past six years. He also served as lead scout for all opponents and game planning and player development for a team that has made the NAIA national tournament the past six seasons.

In Mitchell, he was part of a coaching staff that took their team to the national championship game and to the national tournament multiple times during his time there.
